Antique French Provencal Bedside Table with a "shabby Chic" Painted Finish
Graceful, sturdy piece crafted in the French Provencal style. Bought from an antique dealer in NYC East Village in the late 1980s, it already had this "shabby chic" painted effect & antique brass knob. The finish has not been changed and has achieved even more character with the natural aging. You can see bits of the wood peeking through.
To date the piece, on the underside of the drawer, is written & dated "$11.40 is hidden in the closet of my room" signed by Ken on 03/01/35. Believe to be made circa early 1900s in the USA. Features delicate, intricate details along the edges of the top and legs. Fluted, tapered column legs, ending with an arrow foot & a bow and ribbon motifs on the front corner. Measures 27.75" H x 15.75" L x 13.5" W
Pre-owned, good condition & consistent with age & use. Has been restored with a wooden strut on the underside of the drawer and wood glue for added strength. Several areas of the painted effect have flaked off. Please review photos for all details.
